  • Dayton will have four scholarships available in 2019 if the roster does not change.

Jeremiah Francis, a four-star basketball recruit from Pickerington Central High School, gave his verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina on Friday.

Francis placed the Dayton Flyers in his top 10 in a list he published Saturday night on Twitter.

Dayton was the only program outside the power conferences to make his top 10. Francis, a 6-foot-3 guard in the class of 2019, also listed Ohio State, West Virginia, Indiana, Purdue, Florida State, Missouri, Iowa and Texas Christian.

Dayton offered Francis a scholarship in June. Rivals.com ranks Francis 61st in the 2019 class.

At the moment, Dayton has one scholarship open for 2018 and, if the roster doesn’t change, would have four scholarships open in 2019.

Recruiting for 2020 has also begun. According to Pat Lawless, of Made Hoops, Dayton offered a scholarship to point guard Posh Alexander, of New York City.
