Wayne graduate Tyree Kinnel is the Big Ten football defensive player of the week after spearheading a Michigan win over Cincinnati.

Kinnel, a junior defensive back for the Wolverines, logged nine tackles and returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown.

He also had his first college sack against the Bearcats.

Kinnel is one of two Dayton-area natives starting for Michigan’s defense, joining senior captain Mike McCray, a returning starter at linebacker.
