WEEK 5: Burg beats Troy at last second; Creek escapes Fairmont with OT win

Miamisburg High School's Tate Vongsy connected with Tyler Johnson on a 19-yard touchdown pass to beat Troy 21-17 with eight seconds left in a Week 5 football classic.

Vongsy had missed on passes earlier in the game, but connected with  Johnson to give the Vikings a win over the undefeated Trojans. Johnson had a 58-yard touchdown reception earlier in the game.

Jacob Anderrson's field goal with two minutes left gave Troy the lead. Miamisburg converted twice on fouth down to keep its drive alive. Both teams are 4-1.

Beavers find life in the fourth, beat Fairmont

Beavercreek overcame three scoreless quarters to knock off host Fairmont 21-14 in overtime in high school football Friday night.

The Firebirds (0-5) took a 14-0 lead into the fourth quarter as Kennon Burroughs scored both Fairmont touchdowns on a 5-yard run and a 31-yard pass play.

The Beavers (4-1) battled back with less than five minutes in regulation. Kaden Wenger scored a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes, including a 10-yarder with 17 seconds remaining to force the extra period.

On the second play of overtime, Wenger erupted for a 76-yard TD run for the game-winner. The junior fullback finished with 147 yards rushing.

Sidney 53, West Carrollton 22: Junior Isaiah Bowser went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark, tallying 135 yards on the ground with four touchdowns in the first half as Sidney (3-2) won its third straight. Allec Gordon recorded 103 yards receiving on two catches, both for touchdowns. Darren Taborn added a 77-yard interception return for a score, and Caleb Harris finished the game with a 78-yard kickoff return. Tristan Dillon threw for 302 yards and two TDs for West Carrollton (1-4).

Trotwood-Madison 44, Greenville 0: Trotwood (4-1) blanked its second opponent in three weeks. Darius Wortham started the defensive highlights by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone for the Rams' first score. Kobe Vinegar added a fumble recovery for another. William McDaniel ran for 134 yards and two TDs for Trotwood. Logan Eldridge led the Green Wave (3-2) with 112 yards rushing.

Piqua 55, Xenia 20: Allen Schrubb reeled off 215 yards rushing and five touchdowns to give Piqua (3-2) the road win. Christian Severt threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns for Xenia (0-5).

Tippecanoe 45, Fairborn 44: Junior Caiden Smith kicked the game-winning field goal for Tipp (4-1). Garison Secrest threw three touchdowns for visiting Fairborn (0-5) and KJ Redmon had two TD runs.

Vandalia Butler 41, Stebbins 35: Host Butler (3-2) scored a touchdown with seven seconds left in the game to rally from a 15-point halftime deficit.

Alter 52, Fenwick 3: Clinging to a 10-3 lead at halftime, Alter (5-0, 2-0 GCL) powered its way through the second half with 42 points and 261 yards on the ground. Holden Rushing and Trent Wilson each had two touchdowns for the Knights.

Covington 27, Troy Christian 26: The visiting Buccs remain undefeated after denying Troy Christian's two-point conversion attempt with 31 seconds left in the game.

Madison 47, Oakwood 37: Madison (4-1) got touchdowns from six players, including a 20-yard score from Reid Davis with 1:28 to play that clinched the victory. For visiting Oakwood (0-5), Brian Erbe threw for 358 yards and Connor Dinkler caught nine passes for 205 yards and three TDs.

Brookville 21, Monroe 20: Nick Osterman hooked up with Alex Bannister on a TD pass to bring the host Hornets (1-4) within a point, but the ensuing extra-point attempt was unsuccessful.

Kenton Ridge 57, Graham 26: Noah Schleinitz threw two TD passes and rushed for 122 yards and two other scores to lead the host Cougars (3-2).

Arcanum 33, Twin Valley South 3: Daniel Coats rushed for three touchdowns and Brandon Kinney added two scores as Arcanum (1-4) picked up its first win.

Marion Local 28, Versailles 7: Duane Leugers connected on TD passes to Matt Kahlig and Ryan Thobe to lead host Marion Local (4-1, 2-1 MAC).

Coldwater 21, St. Henry 14: Coldwater (5-0, 3-0 MAC) won its 28th straight game and beat St. Henry (3-2, 2-1) for the 21st consecutive time. The Cavaliers stuffed St. Henry on a fourth-and-one at Coldwater's 39-yard line with under three minutes remaining. Dylan Thobe finished with 118 yards rushing for Coldwater.

Fort Recovery 33, Minster 21: Will Homan finished with five touchdowns to lead the host Indians (4-1, 2-1 MAC).

Ansonia 30, National Trail 0: The host Tigers (1-4, 1-3 CCC) were led by Aydan Sanders, who finished with 83 yards rushing.
