Todd Frazier loved playing for his hometown New York Yankees. He loved making the American League Championship Series more. But with the “baby bomber” movement in Bronx, the 31-year-old Frazier opted for free agency. Does that mean the Reds have a shot at him?

Right now the Cincinnati isn’t in the conversation. Frazier told MLB Network Radio on Sirius he’d like to return to New York, if not the Yankees, then play for a contender.

“It was insane how great of an environment it was to play in New York,” Frazier said. “How spectacular the fans weer and just how much fun I had. I felt like a little kid again.”

Frazier was one of the few vets on a team filled with young talent, one that surprised many by making the playoffs then the ALCS. He played 66 games in New York after he was traded by the Chicago White Sox for prospects, where he spent a year and a half after the Reds traded him.

Frazier hit 22 home runs and 32 RBIs for the Yankees, with a low .222 batting average and a solid .365 on-base percentage. The Yankees will ultimately decide between Frazier, other free agents on the market and prospect Gleyber Torres at third base.

Frazier would give the Reds another power bat, but offense wasn’t the team’s problem last year, pitching was - and the two years prior.
