14-year-old Dayton girl killed in Harrison Twp. crash ID’d

A 14-year-old Dayton girl who died Tuesday following a crash in Harrison Twp.

Rayael Alexander was identified as the crash victim by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported at 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Julia Avenue.

911 callers said that a female victim was unresponsive at the scene and another had injuries to her face.

On arrival, Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies found a 2007 Nissan Altima crashed into an RTA pole and a parked car, a 2008 Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Nissan, a 17-year-old Dayton girl, was traveling southeast on North Main Street, also known as state Route 48, when she went off the right side of the roadway, struck a pole and car parked in a parking lot in the 4700 block of state Route 48, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office crash report.

The 17-year-old driver and a 20-year-old man in the front passenger seat were taken to Miami Valley Hospital with minor injuries.

Alexander was ejected from the car during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
