CareSource Chief Executive Pamela Morris is joining the Ohio Task Force on Affordability and Efficiency in Higher Education, a nine-member group appointed by Gov. John Kasich and legislative leaders.
Kasich announced this week that he appointed Morris as well as KeyBank President Patrick Auletta and Small Brothers co-owner Mark T. Small, who runs a collection of construction, supply and real estate development companies.
The task force, headed by Ohio State University Chief Financial Officer Geoff Chatas, is due to report to state leaders by Oct. 1 its recommendations for ways to reduce costs and make public colleges and universities run more efficiently. The group is tasked with looking at administrative staffing, teaching loads for professors, shared service opportunities and ways to sell or lease public assets to bring in cash.
According to the Project on Student Debt, 68 percent of Ohio students graduating in 2014 carried debt. The average debt was $29,090, which put Ohio 11th in the nation for student debt.
