Average gas price increases in Miami Valley

The average price for a gallon of gas rose 11 cents this morning in the Miami Valley, according to gasbuddy.com.

The average price at area stations was $2.07, up from $1.96 on Tuesday. That’s an increase of 15 cents from the previous week, but substantially down from $3.29 a year ago.

The average price in the U.S. is $2.03 a gallon, according to gasbuddy.com

Prices that have risen in recent days are “largely reflective of a number of Midwestern states where prices have moved higher over the past week due to a series of refinery issues in the region,” according to AAA. The winter storm in the Northeast also is expected to send prices higher on worries about distribution, AAA said.

AAA said gas prices should rise this spring “due to seasonal demand and maintenance,” but that barring a spike in crude oil prices, gas shouldn’t breach $3 per gallon this year.

The highest price per gallon is $2.19 at the Sunoco at 110 S. Main St., Union. The cheapest gas is at Circle K at 3519 Ohio 25A in Troy at $1.77, according to gasbuddy.com
