Cargill buys Amos Media site near soybean facility

Agricultural products giant Cargill Inc. recently purchased Amos Media Co.’s 91,000-square-foot headquarters building in Sidney for Cargill, Inc.

Amos Media Company, publisher of Coin World, Linn’s Stamp News and Scott Catalogs, will move to a new location in Sidney, according to Tim Echemann, principal for Industrial Property Brokers, the firm which brokered the sale.

Cargill operates a soybean processing facility in same industrial park as the Amos Media building at 911 S. Vandemark Road.

The sale involves only the building and the grounds on which it is located. Amos Media will continue to publish the Scott Catalog line of philatelic price guides and the magazines Coin World and Linn’s, and their associated web sites, a release from Industrial Property Brokers said. Amos will also continue to operate Amos Advantage and the Coin World Marketplace, an online market for dealers to sell collector coins, the release said.

Amos will move to its new location in late in 2019 or early 2020.

The release did not give a price for the transaction. Echemann said the site was listed for $2.4 million and the sellers “got close” to the asking price. He declined to give a precise price.

Shelby County real estate records had not recorded the deed as of Monday, and county auditor’s office staff could not give a price.
