Expanded RTA routes offer new airport distribution site options

Expanded Greater Dayton RTA routes will give riders wanting to get to and from the big distribution centers near the Dayton International Airport new choices.

Effective June 2, RTA’s route 43 will service the Chewy pet retail goods distribution center on Lightner Road, and evening service has been added to the Spectrum Brands center near the airport, north of Interstate 70 and National Road.

The weekday northbound trip from the Northwest Transit Center, 2075 Shiloh Springs Road, Trotwood, at 5:30 a.m. will depart at 5:22 a.m. and will service Chewy, RTA said in an service update on its web site.

And a weekday northbound trip from Wright Stop Plaza — at 4 S. Main St. in downtown Dayton — at 6 a.m. will service distribution centers run by P&G, Spectrum Brands, the Dayton airport itself, Peters, Dixie and Crossroads Court, with the return trip departing Crossroads Court at 6:53 a.m.

A northbound weekday trip departing Wright Stop Plaza (WSP) at 6:20 a.m. will service only P&G and Chewy, with the return trip departing Chewy at 6:49 a.m.

A northbound weekday trip departing WSP at 6:50 a.m. will service P&G, Peters, Dixie and Crossroads Court, with the return trip departing Crossroads Court at 7:40 a.m.

Other route changes also offer new northbound options, including on the weekend.

More than $92 million in capital investment near the airport in recent years has resulted in five buildings so far totaling more than 2.7 million square feet, employing (or soon to employ) more than 2270 people in that part of Dayton and Union.
