Furniture Fair to open Dayton location

Cincinnati-based Furniture Fair will open its first Dayton-area location in June in the former Cub Foods grocery store located in Miami Twp., company officials said.

The former grocery store, at 8245 Springboro Pike (Ohio 741), will be the company’s 12th, including other locations in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.

“The company has had their eyes on the Dayton market for the past 10 years,” said Kyle Cannon, marketing coordinator with Furniture Fair.

The 52-year-old, family-owned company operates Furniture Fair, Home and Sleep, and Design Destination furniture stores.

The 60,000-square-foot new location in Miami Twp. will be similar to its Furniture Fair stores, according to Cannon.

“The store makes sense for us logistically because the Dayton area is about the same distance from Fairfield where our large warehouse is located to our stores in Kentucky,” Cannon said.

Store officials could not say how many employees will work at the new location or if the company has plans for other Dayton-area locations. The furniture retailer is known for its TV pitchmen, NFL Hall of Famer and former Cincinnati Bengals player Anthony Munoz and Ed Hartman.

Cub Foods closed the Miami Twp. location in September 2012.
