Fuyao job openings posted online

An Ohio web site has posted a way to apply for job openings at Fuyao’s Moraine plant.

JobsOhio, the state’s private development arm, tweeted a link to the OhioMeansJobs.com link late Wednesday morning. The link lets visitors apply for assembly and production jobs at the Moraine plant that Chinese auto glass manufacturer Fuyao bought in May.

The link can be found here.

The link appears to be the first official avenue to let people apply for expected openings at the plant. Leaders of Fuyao in recent months have said they expect to hire a total of 800 people at the facility — a former General Motors SUV assembly plant — in three to five years.

So far, Mike Davis, development director for the city of Moraine, has acted as an unofficial human resources liaison for Fuyao, often taking the names and contact information of area people interested in applying for openings at Fuyao’s Moraine plant.

Last week, Fuyao bought a Mt. Zion, Ill., glass manufacturing facility from PPG Industries Inc. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The sale is expected to close in the third quarter this year.

Davis said he expects the Illinois facility to supply Fuyao’s Moraine plant, which should begin operating later this year or early next.

Davis has also said he has encouraged Fuyao leaders to consider having a local jobs fair for interested applicants.
