Ground to be broken for new distribution center

Ground will be broken for a new regional distribution center tomorrow.

Ferguson Enterprises will build its first Ohio distribution center near Celina in Mercer County. The 350,000-square-foot distribution center will represent a $15 million investment and Ohio government expects the site to employ 70 people.

Based in Newport News, Va., Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., a subsidiary of Wolseley plc., is a wholesale distributor of plumbing supplies and pipes, valves and fittings, heating and cooling equipment and waterworks. The company has more than 1,000 U.S. locations, including a Kearns Avenue location in Dayton.

The company will invest $15 million of its own capital to construct the new distribution center, according to the Dayton Development Coalition.

Thursday’s planned groundbreaking event is expected to include Jerad Ebbing, director for economic development for Mercer County; Marty Hohenberger, vice president for business development for the coalition; Sheena Metzger, site selection manager for JobsOhio and representatives from Ferguson Enterprises.
