Researchers will use ultrasound and X-ray, among other techniques, to measure and describe materials, with a focus on advanced aerospace materials and systems, the university and the Department of Defense said in separate announcements Thursday.
Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 3, 2026.
The university performed $149.8 million in sponsored research in fiscal year 2018.
By far most of that, 91.5 percent, was work with federal sources, such as NASA, the departments of Defense and Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.
