New Irish pub to open in Centerville

The owners of Murphy’s Irish Pub and Grille in Bellbrook are opening a second bar and restaurant called Paddy’s Irish Pub in Centerville.

Scott and Candy Anderson are opening the new pub on March 1 in the former Tavern on Main, 953 S. Main St., Centerville, which closed on Sunday. The space previously housed a Beef O’Brady’s pub.

The Springboro couple, which formerly owned Sweeney’s Seafood in Centerville, opened Murphy’s in May 2014.

Paddy’s will offer a similar menu to what is served at Murphy’s, which includes Irish food and beverages. The owners are going to reconstruct the inside of the restaurant, adding a fireplace.

“We’ve been looking for a new location in the Centerville area for awhile. This location will work out well for us. We like the neighborhood feel we’ve established at Murphy’s and hope to have this at Paddy’s,” Candy Anderson said.

Ten to 20 people will be hired for the new establishment. Employees at Murphy’s will help get Paddy’s started, Candy Anderson said. The couple’s son, Scott Anderson Jr., will manage one of the restaurants.

John Hughes, owner of Tavern on Main, could not be reached for comment. Hughes changed Beef O’Brady’s to Tavern on Main in May 2014.
