Rumpke names new CEO

Rumpke Waste & Recycling’s board has named William (Bill) J. Rumpke Jr. as its president and chief executive, effective immediately, company officials announced Monday.

Bill Rumpke has spent the last 12 years as the company’s chief operating officer. From 2002-2013, under his direction, the firm’s revenues grew by 78 percent, officials said.

Bill Rumpke has worked for the company for 36 years. He began his career working as a general laborer, driver and manager before founding Rumpke’s central Ohio hauling market in 1988.

He replaces his father, long-time President and CEO William (Bill) J. Rumpke Sr. The elder Rumpke is now president emeritus and remains chairman of the board for Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc., and president of Rumpke Enterprises, Inc. and president of Legacy, Inc.

Founded in 1932 and headquartered near Cincinnati, Rumpke provides environmentally friendly waste disposal and recycling services in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.The family-owned and operated company employs more than 2,600 people, 75 of which are family members.
