The Dayton law firm of Gottschlich & Portune is moving to the Performance Place tower on Main Street downtown, the firm said.

Today, the firm has most recently been located at 201 East Sixth St., in a building known as The Armory, located on the edge of the Oregon District.

“Gottschlich & Portune has outgrown its current office and look forward to the move in mid-July,” the firm said in a release.

“The decision to leave The Armory was not made lightly,” attorney Mary Lentz said in the release. “The truth is that we just couldn’t grow in the way we needed to while maintaining the integrity of this beloved, iconic building that means so much to the Dayton community.”

Gottschlich & Portune’s new office space in Performance Place is adjacent to the Schuster Center, a destination for fans of Dayton’s theater and performing arts scene since 2003.

“We’re pleased to be moving forward at this time,” said attorney Martin Foos. “This move gives us the opportunity to continue growing and expanding while maintaining our presence in downtown Dayton, which means a great deal to us.”

Original firm partners and owners Gary Gottschlich and Robert “Buzz” Portune transitioned from day-to-day operations of the firm to a more advisory role, the release also noted.

“As our firm grows, we anticipate many changes in addition to this move. We look forward to where the future may lead,” said attorney Terry Posey.

Performance Place is found at 109 N. Main St., and its construction was completed in 2003. The building has about 34 condominiums.

The Armory was built in 1893 and was first used to house the drilling exercises of Ohio National Guard regiments.
