Troy plant get aircraft supply work

UTC Aerospace Systems said Wednesday it has been selected by Xiamen Airlines to supply the wheels and carbon brakes for its fleet of six new Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The company will provide the equipment through its Wheels & Brakes business in Troy.

The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in July 2014. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to enter into a new business relationship with Xiamen Airlines on the 787-8 program,” said Cory May, vice president of commercial programs, Wheels & Brakes. “We look forward to providing Xiamen with a superior level of customer support for their 787 fleet and entry into service.”“

Established in July 1984, Xiamen Airlines operates the majority of its scheduled passenger flights out of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The airline is owned by China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Construction and Development Group and Jizhong Energy Group.
