The company is recalling its chocolate mint flavored Clif Builder’s Bar and the protein chocolate mint and protein chocolate chip varieties of its Clif Kid Zbars because of the possible presence of peanuts and some tree nuts, despite the lack of an allergy warning.

Clif Bar discovered the issue after customers complained of suffering allergic reactions to peanuts or tree nuts after eating the bars.

Company officials said in a recall notice that the bars might contain nuts, including almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts and coconuts. The company is "strongly advising" that consumers who are allergic to peanuts or any of the listed tree nuts not eat the bars because of the risk that they could suffer from a serious or life-threatening reaction.

The affected protein bars were sold in retail stores and online throughout the U.S. They are sold in packs and as individual bars. The company released a full list of affected products on its website.

No other Clif Bar & Co. products were affected by the recall.
