Woolpert announces corporate restructuring

Woolpert President and Chief Executive Scott Cattran will “cede” chief operating officer duties to Kirk McClurkin, the company director of technical operations, the Beavercreek engineering firm said Tuesday.

The company said in a release that the restructuring will “reflect the trajectory and scope of its sales and revenue growth over the last few years, to better align project teams and deliver for clients, and to better position the firm for future organic and acquisitive growth.”

The restructure in all includes seven corporate positions and three “sector leaders,” and will go into effect next month, Woolpert said.

Cattran will remain the chair of the company’s board of directors, president and chief executive, Woolpert said.

McClurkin has been with Woolpert for 13 years and most recently served as the firm’s director of technical operations.

In the company’s announcement, Cattran said McClurkin’s primary objectives will be to “optimize operational efficiencies and provide standards and best practices across the firm’s three primary sectors.”

Woolpert also said that Jon Downey, its market director for the firm’s Google cloud and maps partnerships, was named chief innovation officer.

Downey will continue to manage the firm’s Google relationship and oversee subscription services for Woolpert, the company said.

“Jon’s appointment supports our goal to become the most innovative AEG (architecture, engineering and geospatial) firm in the world,” Cattran said.

Also announced: Woolpert Sales and Marketing Director Shane Imwalle will become the firm’s chief strategy officer. He will be responsible for assisting Cattran while overseeing Woolpert’s newly formed strategic consulting group.

Jennifer Brinkman, director of the firm’s marketing and communications department, was promoted to chief marketing officer, Woolpert also announced.

And Human Resources Director Shanda McKinney will be the company’s chief human resources officer, while Josh Heid will continue to serve as chief financial officer, the company said.

The three sector leaders will be Todd Duwel, who will manage the firm’s buildings sector; Tom Mochty, who will manage its infrastructure sector; and Joseph Seppi, who will manage Woolpert’s geospatial sector.

“We strongly believe in promoting from within our organization,” Cattran said in the company’s announcement. “I joined as a junior project manager and, through strong mentorship and training, rose to CEO.”
