PORTER, Mary

PORTER, Mary 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 30, 1937 to the late Laras Cecil and Mary E. (Leeth) Runyan and was raised in Springfield, Ohio. On January 30, 1955, Mary married, her husband of 59 years, Thomas W. Porter, and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2014. Mary is survived by her five children, Debra (William) Wilson of Bellefontaine, Gina Scheff of West Liberty, Tina (John) Wheatley of Beebe, Arkansas, Virginia (Tadd) Chaney and Noah (Pamela) Dillon, both of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and eagerly anticipating another great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Hall; a son-in-law, David Scheff; two sisters, Margaret Kennedy and Virginia Clark; and a brother, James Runyan. A homemaker, Mary enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers. She loved fishing at Indian Lake and making crafts for the annual Fall Festival at the Indian Lake State Park. Mary most especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio, where Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
