Wooded lot creates natural setting for multi-level home
The multi-level home at 6831 Timberlands Drive was designed to complement its nearly 3-acre natural setting that includes a creek running through its wooded area.
“Every level has a deck for your enjoyment,” said Carol Jackson of Galbreath Realtors. “The view is spectacular. There is lots of natural light because of all the windows.”
The decks connect to each other while overlooking generous green spaces between clusters of trees. A fire pit is arranged in one clearing providing tree stumps for seating in circular fashion.
Offering more than 4,710 square feet of living space, the home is listed for $469,000.
The circular driveway curves between green spaces at the front of the home. Mulched rock gardens with ground cover flank the walkway to the brick-enclosed front porch with a central arch and window-sized openings on all three sides.
Sidelights flank the 15-panel oak front door, which opens into a stunning entry under a cathedral ceiling with special millwork emphasizing ceiling lines.
Neutral carpet covers the floor in the open living room, which has angled walls and tall casement windows.
The eight-sided tray ceiling above the open dining room does not take the traditional octagonal shape, but rather suggests an elliptical form. Double doors open into the hallway for easy access to the kitchen, which is updated with granite counters and stainless-steel appliances, including a smooth-top slide-in range, an extra wall oven, a huge French-door refrigerator and a dishwasher. The double sink sits under an expanse of casement windows facing the deck and back yard. Wraparound shelves are installed in the walk-in pantry.
Deep wells with two skylights add natural light in the open breakfast area, which has its own access to the deck. A favorite place to commune with nature is the screened porch with broad views of the wooded back yard.
A granite-topped wet bar sits near the step down from the breakfast area into the family/hearth room, where tongue-and-groove Brazilian hardwood covers the floor in pleasing contrast to its natural stone fireplace. Two groups of casement windows and an upper grouping of trapezoidal shaped windows add plenty of natural light.
In the hallway two closets flank the entrance to the half-bath. Nearby is a mudroom space leading to a three-car garage.
A short staircase ascends to the mezzanine level, which is dedicated to sleeping quarters with four bedrooms and two full baths.
Sliding glass doors in the main bedroom suite connect to the deck. In the private bath under another skylight is a jetted tub surrounded with white ceramic tile. The double vanity sits in an alcove, and there is a separate shower.
Two bedrooms connect to a central two-room bath with a double vanity, a makeup vanity and the tub and shower room, which is enclosed with a pocket door.
Large windows on the next lower level add daylight to a recreation room under recessed ceiling lights. An oak “elbow rest” edges the U-shaped bar.
Marble tile covers the floor of a full bath, placed next to an extra room that could serve as an office, an exercise room or a guest bedroom.
The lowest level offers a carpeted area ideal for a theater or other versatile uses. Sliding glass doors in the ceramic-tiled area open to the one of two covered patios. There is a full bath with tub and shower. A second staircase leads directly into the garage.
“(This level) could be a complete and separate living space,” said Jackson.
She added, “The replaced furnaces, air conditioners and oversized electrical wiring results in everything being new and makes it all very efficient.”
Jackson said the whole house was recently stained and caulked, and there were landscaping upgrades, also.
“It’s like your personal sanctuary, secluded but close to shopping and other amenities,” she said.
