A Trotwood man charged with murder in connection to what police called an “ambush-style” shooting in May 2022 in a Dayton parking lot pleaded guilty last week to lesser charges.

Quinn Arthur Mattison, 29, was sentenced Friday by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Susan Solle to 12½ years in prison. Mattison pleaded guilty Friday to involuntary manslaughter via a bill of information and to having weapons under disability for a December 2020 incident.

Quinn was accused of shooting and killing 33-year-old Reinaldo Taylor of Dayton during what Dayton police Maj. Brian Johns previously described as an “ambush-style shooting.”

As part of his pleas, charges of murder, felonious assault and having weapons under disability, carrying concealed weapons and improper handling of firearm in motor vehicle were dismissed, according to plea documents.

Dayton police responded around 3:20 a.m. May 29, 2022, to a report of a shooting at a shopping center parking lot at 2152 N. Gettysburg Ave. When they arrived, they found Taylor with multiple gunshot wounds, according to an affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court.

Taylor was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

As part of Mattison’s plea, charges of murder, felonious assault and having weapons under disability were dismissed, according to court documents.
