Bacon this and bacon that will take center stage at the local event this bacon lover has been waiting a lifetime to attend.
Bacon Fest 2013 will be celebrated 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at Lincoln Park Civic Commons, 675 Lincoln Park Blvd., Kettering.
The free first-time event is sponsored by Restaurant Raiders – a monthly “foodie” group that visits local restaurants.
“This festival will allow you to sample local restaurants as they showcase all of the many ways you can baconate your meal,” according to an email from Amy Zahora, executive director Miami Valley Restaurant Association.
Restaurants that are scheduled to be in attendance include Angie’s Firehouse Tavern, Amber Rose, Company 7, The Dock, C’est Tout, Lucky’s Taproom & Eatery, Jay’s Restaurant, Neil’s Heritage House, Cadillac Jack’s Sports Bar & Grill and El Meson.
Now in its third year of operation, Lucky’s Taproom plans to bring dessert, owner Drew Trick said.
“We like bacon and we want more people to try our bacon chocolate cake,” he said.
The cake is made from scratch from Dayton resident Maggie Helldoerfer Ossege with apple wood smoked bacon.
Bacon Fest will feature free music in Lincoln Park from Agent 99 and Red Hot Rhythm Review.
Trick said he is participating in the festival because he wants to support groups like Resturant Raiders and expose his business to a wider audience.
“And it sounded like fun, how many different ways you can have bacon,” he said of the festival.
