Violations/comments: Observed residential microwaves and freezers. Equipment is not approved by a recognized testing agency. Single-service and single-use articles are not properly stored. Observed no towels or hand-drying device at the hand-washing sink. Went through new food code changes with owner. Talked to owner about adding mechanical prep cooler top unit near cook line.

Union Street Station Café

Address: 251 S. Union St., Troy

Date of inspection: July 8

Violations/comments: Observed food that was not properly protected from contamination by separate ion, packaging, and segregation. Raw chicken and ground beef stored in Gibson refrigeration unit above cooked, ready to eat foods. Corrected during inspection. Cold or hot holding equipment did not contain a thermometer or the thermometer was not correctly placed. Thermometer missing in sandwich prep unit. Fixed equipment did not appear to be properly seated or spaced for cleaning. Recaulk both hand sinks to wall. Caulk is pulling away and leaving a gap. Observed mops being dried using an unapproved method. Mops lying in the mop sink. Hang mop to allow for air circulation.
