A one-time film screening of “Not My Life” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at The Neon, in honor of Human Trafficking Prevention Month and as part of Start Freedom Dayton, a local human trafficking awareness campaign.

“Not My Life,” which was released on Nov. 1 2011, is “the first documentary film to depict the horrifying and dangerous practices of human trafficking and modern slavery on a global scale,” according to the film’s website. Set in five continents over a period of four years, the film emphasizes that while trafficking and slavery affects millions of people across the globe, the majority of trafficking and slavery victims are children. The running time is 83 minutes.

The screening will be presented by Peace on Fifth, a local gift store that supports the end of modern day slavery by selling products that involve no slave labor, according to the business’ Facebook page.

Tickets to the event cost $8.50 in advance at Peace on Fifth, located at 508 E. Fifth St., and $10 at the door.
