Nearly a dozen shows have been scheduled for the inaugural season at the Rose Music Center at The Heights, and more are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, according to officials.
To date, 11 concerts are scheduled at the $19.3 million music venue, with NEEDTOBREATHE — a Christian rock band that recently earned a Grammy nomination — kicking off the season May 2.
Rosemarie Moehring, marketing director of the Rose Music Center, said she expects 20 to 25 shows for the inaugural season.
“We’re being very aggressive with offers out there,” said Moehring, noting there have been 40 to 50 offers made. “We’re pleased with what we’ve confirmed so far, and we’re expecting to confirm more. It’s a nice, diverse lineup as well. We’re trying to get something for everyone to make it the entertainment place to be this summer.”
The lineup is highlighted by Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis on July 12, The Beach Boys and The Temptations on Aug. 6, and Lynyrd Skynyrd on Aug. 28.
Other concerts include the Tedeschi Trucks Band on June 27, Whitesnake on July 7, and Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick on Aug. 9.
“This was originally designed to be a catalyst for economic growth in the community and establish Huber Heights and the I-70 corridor as a regional destination,” Huber Heights City Manager Rob Schommer said. “We’ve exceeded our expectations for our inaugural year. We’re excited and proud to bring this facility and amenity to the community.”
The 4,200-seat covered seasonal venue is at 6800 Executive Boulevard, near the Interstate 70 and Ohio 201 interchange.
“It’s built so that every seat is a great seat,” Moehring said. “We think that the residents of Huber Heights are going to be really excited to have it in their neighborhood.”
Tickets for the majority of the shows go on sale to the public beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6. For more information, visit www.rosemusiccenter.com.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be the first show at this beautiful new venue,” NEEDTOBREATHE said in a statement.
The Rose Music Center also is seeking job applicants for its first season.
