Michael Dorsey, a Cedarville University graduate and former employee, is a contestant on Season 14 of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” which premiered in a two-night event on Sunday, Jan. 6, and Monday, Jan. 7. Dorsey watched the episode, which aired at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, on NBC, and wrote a blog entry, sharing his thoughts only with our publications. Watch “The Biggest Loser” at 8 p.m. Mondays on NBC. Look out for more of Dorsey’s blog entries here throughout the season.

Walking into the gym and seeing Ali: “… Are you kidding me?” Of course there has to be a trick to this week; it wouldn’t be “The Biggest Loser,” right? ” … Wait a minute, what are those? Why are our faces on those? OH MY! What is about to happen?” That’s the internal dialogue I had going on during the first minutes of this episode.

When Alison says that only one person’s weight is going to count for the week, I really didn’t know what to think, except I had better be ready for the possibility.

I will say something about Gina’s breakdown with Bob. One thing that I never fully comprehended until I was actually on the Ranch was that this whole “weight loss thing” is not just about weight loss. Go figure! All of us are having to face demons about ourselves during this process of becoming healthier human beings, and it does something to you emotionally. With that being said, Gina was going through one of those moments, and I really do believe everyone has to go through theirs in their own way. It’s all a part of the process.

Knowing that the fate of your team is potentially hanging on you is a very humbling feeling. It totally impacted everything that week from what I ate to how long I slept to how much time I spent working out. What I did appreciate about Bob’s approach to the week was that, “Look, this is where we are, and at the end of the day, let it be me.” Why not? It sounds great in theory, but oh so difficult when you actually try to conceptualize it. Nonetheless, we kicked it hard in the gym. EVERYBODY (Red, White and Blue) put in major work in the gym, and it felt really good.

It’s always nice to watch the actual episode and see what happened outside of the Ranch. To see Biingo, Lindsay and Sunny going through their individual journeys was great. I especially love to see each of them coming into their own and reconnecting to the spirit of who they actually are. I am so inspired by each of them (even though I had no clue who Cody Simpson was). I am glad to see the impact they are having in their schools.

Even though I wasn’t able to work out with Laila Ali for Last Chance, I was really encouraged by what she did for the Red Team in that she revived their spirits. No matter how this plays out at the end, one of the things we as a cast are clear on is that after this experience, we want to be successful. How do we go about doing that?

While the weigh in did not go in the favor of the Blue Team, I am extremely confident that David was/is OK at home. I have the deepest respect for David and love that he is killing it at home! While the eliminations are always hard for me, especially when I have some responsibility in it, I take solace in knowing that at some point we all have to go home.
