TMZ: 'The Wire' star Wendell Pierce allegedly attacked Bernie Sanders supporter

Actor Wendell Pierce, best known for his roles in “The Wire” and “Treme,” was arrested after allegedly attacking a Bernie Sanders supporter, according to TMZ.

TMZ said Pierce was at the Lowes hotel Saturday night and met a woman and her boyfriend in the lobby. Pierce is a Hillary Clinton supporter. The woman apparently wasn't. After a heated conversation, Pierce allegedly pushed the boyfriend and went after the woman, grabbing her hair and smacking her in the head.

The couple called the cops, who arrested Pierce on a charge of battery. He posted a $1,000 bond and was released, TMZ said.

Pierce, 52, recently played Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in the HBO film, "Confirmation" which aired in April. He is currently shooting "One Last Thing" with Jurnee Smollet-Bell in Atlanta.
