AleFest will take a new approach this year when it organizes itself by category instead of by brewery.

It’s a major change that AleFest Chairman Joe Waizmann believes will please attendees making it easier to find the beer styles they are looking for.

“It’s highly recommended that one chooses areas and specific beers to sample early in order to ensure availability. Since beers are grouped primarily by style category … might be a good idea for your group to head to personal favorites initially, then meet up along the way. Also a tremendous opportunity to sample unfamiliar styles of beer and breweries. A printed sampling guide will be provided to assist in recall of favorites,” said Weizmann.

Here’s a look at what will be available to quench the thirst at this year’s 21st Annual AleFest organized by categories.

Hoppy

This category comprises nearly 40% of all craft beer consumed today and encompasses base styles such as IPA (India Pale Ale), Imperial or Double IPA (volume is turned up on hops and alcohol) New England IPA, Brut IPA (fermented to very low residual sugar-dry), and Pale Ale, as well as fruited variations of any of these core styles.
