Eat food from 12 of your favorite restaurants at this event

Sometimes more is less, but in the case of food events and festivals, more is usually more.

How many kinds of food will be present? How many restaurants and chefs are involved? How many “tastes” will there be?

The higher the number, the more likely you are to experience more flavors and have a robust food exploration.

Such is the case with the Summer Restaurant Week promotion, which runs July 23-30 offering meals from nearly 50 restaurants ranging in price from $20.17-$30.17.

The traditional “sneak peek” that happens before the promotion kicks off will take place on Wednesday, July 19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Prime Time Party Rental.

Tickets are $20.17, which includes tastes from a dozen restaurants and one drink.

This year's participants in the preview event include Amber Rose, Basil's, Chappys Social House, Coco's Bistro, ele Bistro and Wine Bar, El Meson, Meadowlark, Roost American, Salar, Wheat Penny and Nibbles.

The Restaurant Week promotion was established more than a decade ago as a way to generate interest traffic to local restaurants and help give diners a chance to explore the menu at a more affordable price point. The kick-off event offers a nice preview of what’s in store at the restaurants that are on hand.

“It gives people the opportunity to try new restaurants and new menus that the chefs come up with for Restaurant Week,” said Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association. “With the majority of our restaurants that participate being independents, it’s a wonderful way to really support the restaurant community.”

It’s also a wonderful way to support several non-profits. Last year’s Summer Restaurant Week raised more than $8,000 for local non-profits.

This year Zahora says March of Dimes and the MVRA Scholarship Fund will receive funds raised.
