It doesn’t have to be festival season for a food festival.

The Turkish American Society of Ohio-Dayton is holding a Turkish Food Festival on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ziya Kara, the Turkish American Society’s treasurer, said organizers hope to have a food festival quarterly going forward.

It is important for members of the community to break bread together, he said, adding that is particularly true now in light of divisiveness and apparent hate crimes like a shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue that left 11 dead.

“We should sit down, talk, be friends,” Kara said. “That is how we are going to make the difference.”

Turkish food can be, at times, just as tricky to prepare as it is delicious. That’s why cultural festivals like this one are a prime opportunity to get your fill of authentic, mouth-watering Turkish food, made from scratch by the experts. You might even be inspired to learn the craft of the cuisine while you’re there!
