CONFIRMED CANCELLATIONS
Effective Monday, March 23, all nonessential businesses were ordered to close to the public in the state of Ohio by Gov. Mike DeWine. In essence, every business aside from those that fall into these categories are closed to the public due to the state mandated stay-at-home order:
- Food production and distribution
- Supermarkets, farmers markets, convenience stores and other places that sell groceries
- Pharmacies
- Charitable and social services
- Gas stations
- Liquor stores and distributors
- Auto supply and repair shops
- Bicycle supply and repair shops
- Media
- Banks
- Financial and insurance institutions, including money lenders and pawn shops
- Hardware and supply stores that sell electrical, plumbing and heating equipment
- Critical trades such as plumbers, electricians, and HVAC services
- Laundromats and other laundry services
- Businesses that sell supplies to work from home
- Mail and delivery services
- Airports
- Computer and electronics supplies
- Transportation services
- Hotels and motels
- Critical infrastructure
- Home-based care services
- Legal and accounting services
- Agriculture, including food and licensed marijuana
- Religious entities
- Labor unions
- Real estate services, including appraisals
- Gun stores
Montgomery County Sheriff foreclosure and tax sales suspended
The Montgomery County Sheriff announced that as of March 19, its foreclosure and tax sales held at the Montgomery County Administration Building on West Third Street will be suspended until further notice.
Kettering Police Department fingerprinting
The Kettering Police Department announced that as of 3 p.m. on March 17, it will be canceling all fingerprinting services, and will no longer do any fingerprinting until further notice.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office C.C.W. services changed
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced that its Concealed Carry Weapons department will now only offer services by appointment to help limit exposure to the virus. Services available by appointment only including apply for and renewing a concealed carry permit, as well as background checks. Applicants are asked to fill out the application ahead of their appointment. Completed permits will be mailed.
Fingerprint cards and foreclosure payments at the C.C.W. department are suspended until futher notice.
Finally, the property room has updated their hours to 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Bars and restaurants
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine ordered all bars and restaurants in the state to cease on-site consumption to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Many businesses are offering carryout and delivery.
Fitness and entertainment
Fitness centers, gyms, bowling alleys, recreation centers, indoor water parks, indoor trampoline parks and movie theaters will all be closed at the end of the day (Monday, March, 16) following an order from the Ohio Department of Health, said DeWine.
Specialty services
DeWine has also ordered the closing of all barber shops, nail salons and tattoo parlors in the state of Ohio due to COVID-19.
Dayton Police Department activities canceled
The Dayton Police Department has cancelled all community engagement activities like community meetings, events, and department-sponsored training. It also canceled all ride-alongs, told volunteer Neighborhood Assistance Officers not to report for duty, and said officers will not be present at neighborhood association meetings. All of these changes will last through April 15.

Trotwood cancels city public gatherings
The city of Trotwood canceled all city public events and gatherings for the next three weeks. The city’s government offices will be closed with no face-to-face contact for the next three weeks.
Libraries close
Dayton Metro Library branches, Troy-Miami County library branches and Washington-Centerville library branches are closed for an undetermined time.
2nd Street Market closed until further notice
The 2nd Street Market, 600 E. Second St., is closed until further notice.
All other MetroParks’ parks and facilities will continue to take the necessary steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 through enhanced cleaning protocols in parks and public spaces in MetroParks.
Dayton performing arts events venues to close until further notice
Dayton Live is currently working to reschedule as many as upcoming performances as possible, including presentations by Dayton Live, Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Human Race Theatre Company, and any promoters renting the buildings.
“We will provide more details about what to do with your tickets as soon as possible. In the meantime, do not come to the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, The Loft Theatre, or the PNC Arts Annex as they are closed until further notice. “The Arts Garage will remain open for business,” Dayton Live announced in a press release. “We appreciate the leadership of our public officials and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the health and well-being of our patrons, artists, staff, and volunteers.”
Impacted shows include "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical," "Gloria: A Life," "The Price is Right Live," "MasterChef Junior Live," "The Peking Acrobats," "Untold Stories," "DRUM TAO," "Jane in Concert," "Llama Llama Live" and more programming over at least the next month, available in the event calendar at daytonlive.org.
Centerville-Washington Park District programs
All Centerville-Washington Park District programs, facility reservations and athletic events are canceled from Saturday, March 14 through Monday, April 6. The parks will remain open.
Hobart Arena events
“We will be working with all of our upcoming event promoters and organizers on how these orders will impact each of their events specifically to determine what course of action may or may not need to be taken,” said Ken Siler, Troy’s Hobart Arena manager.
Little Art Theatre
All showings temporarily suspended.
The Neon
The Neon independent movie theater in downtown Dayton will be closed to the public until further notice.
COSI
Starting Friday, March 13 COSI in Columbus will be closed to the public for three weeks.
Dayton Art Institute
The Dayton Art Institute will be closed now through at least April 5.
All museum events and programs scheduled during that time have been canceled or postponed. For questions regarding private events booked at the museum, please check with the event organizer.

National Museum of the US Air Force
The museum will close temporarily beginning March 15. All museum events are canceled or postponed until further notice. A release from the museum encourages people to take a virtual tour here.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
The zoo is temporarily closed starting March 15. They advised in a release that they would have Facebook Live video safaris during the week, starting with a video about Fiona.

Carillon Historical Park
All of the park’s exhibit buildings, visitor’s center, museum store and restaurant are closed to the public. All events are also canceled until further notice.

APRIL
• The Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop scheduled for April 2-4, 2020 at the University of Dayton has been postponed. It is rescheduled for Oct. 29 - 31.
For registered attendees, the registration fee will be transferred allowing them to attend the workshop this fall. A refund will be granted for those who would like one. To request a refund, please contact the University of Dayton's conference services staff at conferences@udayton.edu before April 2.
• The IPMS Region IV Retional WrightCon, scheduled for April 3-4, has been postponed, likely until fall. Visit wright.con.com for updates.
• The Winter Guard International World Championships for Color Guard, Percussion and Winds have been canceled for 2020 and will return in 2021.
• Dayton Live's Celtic Woman, originally scheduled to take place on April 8, is canceled.
• The Ohio State Buckeyes' annual spring football game set for April 11 at Ohio Stadium has been canceled.
• The SummitUP conference scheduled for April 14 at Sinclair Conference Center has been postponed. A new date will be announced once determined. Registration will remain valid for those already registered.
• The Human Race Theatre Company's "The Revolutionists," originally scheduled to run between April 16 and May 3, has been canceled.
• The Dayton Art Institute's Bourbon & Bubbles event scheduled for April 17 will be rescheduled. A new date will be announced soon. Tickets for the April 17 event will be honored for the new date.
• The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company's "Watercolors," originally scheduled for April 17, has been canceled.
• The Diamond Rio and Wyatt McCubbin concert at Clark State Performing Arts Center has been been rescheduled from April 17 to June 18.
• The Contemporary Dayton's 26 Annual Art Auction on April 24 has been postponed as well as the Annual Art Auction Volunteer Training and the Auction Preview, Live Auction Reveal + Artists to Watch to a later date.
• The 2020 Bellbrook Sugar Maple Festival, originally scheduled to take place between April 24 and 26, has been canceled.
MAY
• The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon has been postponed to Oct. 9-11. It was originally scheduled for May 1-3. The Flying Pig will co-host the weekend with the Queen Bee, which has a half marathon scheduled for that weekend. Participants have the option to run the marathon in October, run a virtual marathon this spring, donate their registration or defer for Flying Pig Marathon dates in 2021, 2022 or 2023.
• The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company's "Soulstice Mahogany Nights," originally scheduled for May 2, has been canceled.
• The Garth Brooks concert scheduled for May 16 at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati has been rescheduled for June 27. All tickets will be honored.
• The Columbus Taco Fest has been postponed and will now be taking place on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020. This regional ode to the taco was originally scheduled to take place on May 16 and 17.
• The spring Honor Flight Dayton trip scheduled for May 23 has been postponed. The next confirmed trip is Oct. 17.
• Hamvention, scheduled for May 21-23, has been cancelled. People can get a refund for tickets, get a ticket for 2021 or donate their purchase to the convention.
JUNE
• The Caesar Ford Summer Fest, a country concert featuring talents like Craig Morgan and Justin Bryan in Xenia, originally scheduled for June 5-6, has been postponed to Sep. 13.
• The Versailles Poultry Days festival, originally set to take place over the weekend of June 12-14, has been rescheduled for the weekend of Aug. 14.
• Dayton Live's Gospel Superfest 20th Anniversary Recording, originally scheduled for June 20, has been canceled.
• ARTFest on Main, originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 20, is canceled. The next ARTFest is set to take place on Saturday, June 19.
• The Amazing Race Dayton XI, set to take place on Saturday, June 20, is canceled.
• The Vectren Dayton Air Show, originally scheduled to take place on June 27 and 28, has been postponed to a later date, yet to be announced.
• Temple Israel of Dayton's 2020 Jewish Cultural Festival has been rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 9.
JULY
• The 2020 Dayton Celtic Festival, originally scheduled for Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26, has been canceled. Next year's event will be July 30 to Aug 1, 2021.
