Happy Presidents’ Day! Today is the day that we celebrate the office of the presidency — and, for many, a day off from school or work. And, to ensure that this day off doesn’t drive every party involved crazy, we’ve uncovered some of the best ways for you to bond with your children on their special day off from school. These are the best family-friendly events taking place in the Dayton area on Presidents’ Day.

🏫🎊Presidents' Day Skate at RiverScape MetroPark

Spend the holiday ice skating at the RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton. The cost is $8 and includes the rental of ice skates.

🏫🎊Plane Talks at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force

Keep the learning going today. You and your children will finally have the opportunity to learn a bit more about various subject matters as they relate to to the planes and the Air Force at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. These “Plane Talks” will take place on historically-important days — like Presidents’ Day. During this particular Plane Talk, attendees will have a chance to learn more about planes from the following experts:

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will commemorate Veterans Day by offering visitors a special opportunity to interact with more than 25 veterans who will be stationed at aircraft throughout the museum as part of the “Plane Talks” program Nov. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. 🏫🎊The Black History 101 Mobile Museum

This award-winning collection of over 7,000 original artifacts of Black memorabilia, founded by Dr. Khalid el-Hakim, is now on display at Sinclair Community College in downtown Dayton. The mobile collection features artifacts dating back to trans-Atlantic slave trade era, and even some from the hip-hop culture of decades past. The mobile museum has visited 40 states so far and plans to cover much more ground in honor of Black History Month.

You can visit the mobile museum from 10 a.m. today to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Building 14, the Premier Health Grand Entrance.

🏫🎊Presidents' Day Jump at Sky Zone Dayton

The area’s most popular trampoline park is open today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enter the Foam Zone, play a round of dodgeball or simply spend your time jumping on the series of trampolines to make the day go by all that much faster (and your kids will love your sense of adventure).

🏫🎊Presidents' Day at Wild Axe Throwing

“4 score and 7 years ago, our forefathers said to come throw some axes to celebrate them,” says Wild Axe Throwing’s Facebook page. The axe-throwing destination will be open to those wishing to swing a few axes at the targets from 1-9 p.m.

The popular axe-throwing destination allows those over the age of 13 to throw an axe, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
