Pavlo, performing in a Miami Valley Community Concert Association presentation in Centerville High Schoolâs Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Oct. 17, talked with us about the current state of his career.
TIMELESS TUNES
âThe music I play has never been the music of the day. Itâs never been a fad. Whether you hear my music now or in 100 years, I hope it will still be relevant. People come up to me and talk about a record and they donât even know that record is 19 years old. They think I just did it and that makes me happy. Itâs all real instruments and Iâve found if you do that youâre never dated.â
LATE BLOOMER
âI just finished recording my 14th album and I was going to release it in the Fall but Iâm going to wait until Spring because my latest PBS special has started to take off. I did it two years ago and I thought it was just going to fade away but it caught fire in January after it got picked up in Los Angeles. They aired it 150 times and then the whole country caught on.â
SPECIAL EXPLOSION
âRight now there are 70 cities across the U.S. airing âLive in Kastoria.â It has exploded and there is another 100 cities coming by the spring. Now, Iâm trying frantically to get to every city in person so when they premiere it Iâm there. Iâve managed to get to 20 of them for now and Iâll be doing more. Thereâs too much going on now to release another album so Iâve pushed that to next year.â
ONWARD & UPWARD
âI feel so blessed because Iâve been doing this for a long time but my career has grown exponentially in the last seven months because Iâve been on television. Itâs been fantastic. At the core of it, honestly, is I love to play my guitar and I love to be in front of audiences. Thatâs how simple it is and thatâs how I look at it. Of course, itâs much more complex with recording and touring and everything around it but playing music for people is at the core of it. Twenty years later Iâm blessed that instead of a downward spiral, Iâm actually heading the other way.â
