‘Blue’s Clues’ is getting a reboot, and you could be host

“Hi, out there! It’s me, (insert your name here)! Have you seen Blue, my puppy?”

If you’ve ever dreamed of having your very own Blue the puppy from “Blue’s Clues,” this might just be your chance. Nickelodeon announced this week it is reviving the popular children’s show with a “refreshed” look. The series follows an animated dog named Blue who leaves clues for the show’s host and its preschool audience to solve so they can figure out what Blue wants to do.

The original show, which aired from 1996-2006 and featured a blend of live action and animation, featured two hosts — Steve Burns from 1996 until 2002, and Donovan Patton until 2006. But the next host could be just about anybody because Nickelodeon is hosting an open casting call for the gig on April 14 in Burbank, California.

If you’re 18 years or older, Nickelodeon is seeking women and men of any ethnicity who can play 18-25 years old. You can register for an audition time slot on this event page.

The casting call notes that the perfect host has “a comedy background, a natural connection with the camera, and (is someone who) will empower the home viewer to feel important, respected, and smart.” It also adds that “playing the guitar, singing, and juggling are all a plus.”

So, go ahead, register for your slot — you just might be the next sleuth to help the home audience solve all of “Blue’s Clues.”
