Oreo releases its first candy bars

Oreo cookies will soon be available on the candy aisle.

Mondelez International, the company that owns the makers of Oreo, said in a news release Monday that a line of three Oreo candy bars are being released.

The candy bars use Milka European chocolate candy and Oreo cookies.

"The new chocolate candy bar line comes in an assortment of different formats, all of which feature bits of Oreo cookies and vanilla creme filling alongside Milka's smooth European chocolate candy," the release said.

USA Today reported that the candies have been previously available overseas already.

The Milka Oreo Big Crunch Chocolate Candy Bar as two layers of vanilla creme filling with Oreo cookies in between and covered in chocolate. Mondelez said the 10.5 ounce bar will sell for $4.99

The Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar has cookie bits mixed with vanilla creme and covered in chocolate. The bars come in 1.44 ounces, 2.88 ounces and 3.52 ounces and are suggested to be sold for $0.98, $1.69 and $1.79.

The Milka OREO Choco-Mix Snack Mix Bag will have mini Oreos, mini golden Oreos, chocolate candies, and candy coated chocolates in a 6.1 ounce bag. The suggested retail price is $3.69.

The new treats will be available nationwide in January 2017. It's already available the week of Nov. 14 at Walmart, Kroger, ShopRite and Albertsons.
