Within a span of four months, François Vermeir, 85, lost both his dog and wife, to whom he had been married 63 years.
Vermeir’s grandson, Davy Vanhaesendonck, and other family members decided grandpa needed a little cheering up and decided to surprise him with a Yorkshire puppy named Snoopy.

According to Belgian website Nieuwsblad.be, Vermeir lost his wife Jeanne, 82, on July 26, after being together for 65 years and married for 63.
Vanhaesendonck told Nieuwsblad.be he was surprised how quickly his video, posted to Facebook and YouTube, spread around the internet.
"Apparently people find it so beautiful and want to share it with as many people as possible,” Vanhaesendonck told the website (translation via Google Translate).
Vanhaesendonck’s YouTube video had more than 1.5 million views as of Monday morning.
