Back in the day, flower shops offered exactly what they were billed to offer — plants and flowers.
But today’s flower shops have taken it to the next level, and there’s no better example than The Flower Shoppe that relocated from Brown Street to the Shops of Oakwood.
Owner Mark Brueninghaus has an incredible eye — not just for beautiful flower arrangements, but for home decor and gift merchandising. His new store gives him the perfect canvas and more space to show off his many talents.
Here are some things we noted during a recent visit to The Flower Shoppe’s new digs.
The entryway: Talk about an entrance. From the beautiful light fixture to the holiday items lining the sides, this is a place you want to step into and keep going.
The trees: The Christmas trees decorated with ornaments they are selling are spectacularly gorgeous and had a wow factor.
Old meets new: Antique and vintage pieces are mixed in with new items in a way that’s fresh and gets your home decor wheels spinning.
The displays: The curated displays of succulents, holiday items and more are really well done. There’s a lot to look at, but not to the point that you can’t see what’s right in front of you.
The prices: Run the gamut. There’s something for you no matter what budget you’re on.
The playfulness: This is a store that is having fun. Plenty of the items have a frolicking, playful tone.
The seasons: Sure it’s Christmas, but there’s a large display of beachy, warm items as well if you’re already longing for summer’s return.
The candles: Their $28 SmallbatchCandleCo.com soy candles in repurposed liquor bottles smell great and would be a great gift if you’re in the market for something out of the ordinary.
The use of color: This is a shopping experience that will keep you engaged and looking around, with pops of color everywhere you turn.
