BEAVERCREEK — The city is working to secure $500,000 to help fund planning for a road construction project that would add an entrance and exit ramp from Interstate 675 to Grange Hall Road near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The estimated $18.6 million project would open the interchange to future development and help eliminate some traffic problems around the base, Wright State University, the Mall at Fairfield Common and Soin Medical Center and allow vehicles to enter I-675 easier.

The Grange Hall interchange only has an exit ramp from I-675 south to Grange Hall and and entrance ramp from Grange Hall to north traffic. The project would add both an on- and off-ramp on the other side of the highway.

“The purpose of the I-675/Grange Hall Interchange project is to improve travel efficiency and safety as well as better access to the two current major regional business/employee centers of WPAFB, Wright State University, and Soin Medical Center on Pentagon Blvd in the project area,” an application to the Dayton Development Coalition’s Dayton Region Priority Development and Advocacy Committee read.

The city said in its PDAC application that changing the intersection from a partial to full interchange would help drive development on about 35 vacant acres of land near the proposed interchange, which could bring additional jobs to the region.

In its application, the city said Conceptual Alternative Study (CAS) and Interchange Modification Study (IMS), along with supplemental research and documents, are being performed.
