Ohio to start vaccinating second priority group in two weeks

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said that Ohio is preparing to vaccinate the second priority group in Phase 1B of the state’s vaccination plan, which includes school staff, adults age 65 and older and people with certain medical conditions. The governor also said too many members of the first group, Phase 1A, decided not to get the shots, with about 60% of nursing home workers declining. Officials pointed to misinformation on social media and a perception that younger health care workers will be less affected.

Gov. DeWine shares more plans for Phase 1B

During Tuesday’s press briefing, the governor laid out some details of Ohio’s plan for vaccinating the second priority group of Ohioans in Phase 1B. The state plans to use drive-thrus, fairgrounds and individual health care systems to get the vaccine out, with more than 1,600 health care providers having signed up to distribute the vaccine.

Deadline extended for bars and restaurants with liquor licenses to apply for grants

Ohio has announced that the deadline has been extended for businesses with liquor licenses to apply for $2,500 grants from the Bar & Restaurant Assistance Fund. Businesses can now apply for grants through Jan. 31.

Several test positive for coronavirus in Browns team before playoffs

Browns Coach Kevin Stefanski, guard Joel Bitonio, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge and at least two assistant coaches tested positive for the coronavirus, putting them out of Cleveland’s wild-card game at Pittsburg Sunday night, the Browns’ first playoff appearance since 2002.

Ohio State/Alabama game could be delayed

Multiple reports late Tuesday afternoon indicated that officials are discussing whether to postpone the national championship game between Ohio State and Alabama, though at this point the game is still scheduled for Jan. 11.
