GE Aviation, CFM announce $6B in deals on air show’s first day

The Farnborough Air Show held near London, England began this week, launching one of the largest aviation events in the world.

Representatives of area employers GE Aviation and its joint venture company, West Chester Twp.-based CFM International, are there.

On Monday, GE Aviation and CFM announced more than $6 billion in deals. According to Deborah Case, GE Aviation spokeswoman, those deals include:

  • Asiana ordered 50 LEAP-1A engines with a long-term service agreement valued at $950 million.
  • TAP Portugal ordered 83 LEAP-1A engines.
  • Emirates expanded a GE90-11B services agreement to additional engines, valued at more than $400 million.
  • Turkish Airlines extended its CF6 service agreements.
  • Standard Chartered Bank ordered 20 CFM-7B engines.
  • 90 ARJ Aircraft powered by CF34-10A engines were ordered by CALC and AVIC, with an engine list price at $1.5 billion.

GE Aviation is headquartered in Evendale in suburban Cincinnati. It and CFM International employ more than 9,000 people in Southwest Ohio.
