Backyard fire spread to wooden deck at Troy residence

A backyard fire on the 100 block of Fox Harbor Dr. in Troy damaged a wood deck at a residence Sunday morning.

According to the family of the home, they were burning a recreational fire in the backyard and said it was out when they went into the house around 12:15 a.m. The fire apparently rekindled and set the deck on fire. 

A passing motorist stopped and helped the residents use a garden hose on the fire until Troy firefighters arrived around 6:30 a.m.

Damages are estimated around $7,000. There were minor damages to the siding and a window on the house. 

No injuries were involved in the incident.

According to our crews, the fire began on the back porch of the home and firefighters kept it from catching the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage estimates are currently unknown.

No injuries were reported.
