Dave Schnittger, a spokesman for Boehner, said the former House speaker believes the year ahead could be a productive one in terms of “prospects for the enactment of significant legislation to improve the lives of the American people.”
“He (Boehner) believes the potential exists for President-elect Trump and the new Congress to enact some kind of tax reform, and also some immigration reforms. Both are badly needed, and the groundwork for potential bipartisan action on both has been established already in recent years on the Hill,” Schnittger said.
Boehner was pleased to see U.S. House Rep. Warren Davidson win a new term, Schnittger said.
“He believes Davidson and his staff are doing an excellent job of reaching out to the people of the 8th Congressional District. He was pleased to see Senator Portman re-elected decisively as well, after running one of the most effective campaigns of the 2016 cycle,” Schnittger said.
