It’s a boy: Nebraska couple learn baby’s gender after running half-marathon

Omaha residents Stephanie and Colin Herr learned the gender of their second child after competing in the half-marathon portion of Sunday's Lincoln Marathon, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Stephanie Herr, 29, signed up for the race several days before learning she was pregnant, the newspaper reported. The day of the race turned out to be the day the Herrs would learn the gender of their child.

Race director Nancy Sutton told the World-Herald the gender reveal was a first for her event. Sutton said the race has had its share of marriage proposals and wheelchair participants who got up and walked across the finish line -- but nothing like this.

Before the 13.1-mile race, only the couple's doctor and marathon volunteers knew the baby's gender, the World-Herald reported.

Stephanie Herr wore a shirt that read “Pink or Blue” across its front, while the back had pink and blue footprints with the message to follow to find out who,” the newspaper reported.

After crossing the finish line, the Herrs were given medals and tubes of confetti. When they opened the tubes, blue confetti spilled out.
