State patrol officials said that just before 10 p.m., a vehicle was traveling in the right lane of southbound I-75 about a mile north of Main Street when it started having engine trouble and slowed.

The second vehicle then came from behind and crashed into it. The driver of the second vehicle may have been having a medical issue, which he said distracted him. That driver was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and was cited for failing to maintain adequate distance.

The front vehicle had two passengers, both of which were taken to the Kettering Hospital in Troy.

State troopers don’t believe alcohol or distracted driving were involved in the crash.
