Muhl said that when firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke from an attached garage that was starting to reach into the house.

Fire crews were able to enter the garage to work on the fire, and kept it mainly contained there.

Everyone in the house was able to get out safely, Muhl said, and there were no injuries. He added that there were smoke detectors in the house, but that they didn’t warn the family because the smoke hadn’t gotten inside the house.

This fire remains under investigation.
