Dayton releases new app for trash day

It’s easy to lose track of the time and forget it’s trash day.

Well, Dayton now has an app for that.

The city has launched Dayton Collects, a mobile app that will send people reminders that trash and recycling day has arrived.

The app also will send alerts to changes in the collection schedule related to holidays or bad weather.

The app also has a “what goes where” feature that includes information about what materials are recyclable in Dayton’s curbside collection program, the city said.

Most waste residents generate is recyclable, but too often people throw recyclable items in the trash, and those wind up at the dump, officials say.

The app can be downloaded for free at the Apple and Google Play app stores and is available at the city website at daytonohio.gov/daytoncollects.
