One dead, one hospitalized in Clinton County crash

One person was killed in a fatal crash in Clinton County, Lt. Stanley Jordan confirmed.

The fatal crash, that happened on Irvin Road - northwest of St. Rt. 133 in Marion Twp., occurred this morning and is still being investigated by the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Virginia Harner-Wallace, 38 - of Blanchester, was driving southeast, along with an occupant, Megan Harner, 33 - of Cuba. The Cavalier drove off the left side of the roadway where it struck a culvert and utility pole before overturning.

Wallace and Harner were ejected from the vehicle; Wallace was pronounced deceased at the scene and Harner was transported by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that neither Wallace nor Harner were wearing seatbelts, and the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, the Clinton County Coroner's Office, the Blanchester Fire and Emergency Medical Servies, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The patrol would like to remind all motorists that seat belts save lives. It's simple - safety belts save lives and reduce injuries in crashes. It is the easiest thing you can do to protect yourself, your family, and your friends.
