Motorcyclist dies in U.S. 40 accident in Preble County

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.:

A two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 40 just west of Oxford Gettysburg Road has ended in one fatality, according to a press release from the Preble County sheriff’s office.

Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, law enforcement unites responded to a crash involving a 2002 Honda motorcycle and a 2019 Ford pickup truck pulling a stock trailer.

Preliminary investigations show that the driver of the motorcycle, Krista M. Jones, 48, of New Paris was traveling east on U.S. 40 and drifted left of center, striking the pickup truck, according to the release.

Jones was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, a juvenile from New Madison, was not injured in the crash.

The road was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours while investigators surveyed the area.

Crews are working to clear the scene of a vehicle accident on U.S. 40 near National Trail High School, according to Preble County regional dispatch center.
