Friends and family held a vigil Tuesday evening to remember Jeniqua Morrow, hours after an arrest was made in her slaying.

Morrow, 25, was found early Tuesday, shot in the upstairs of an apartment in the 1900 block of Palisades Drive.

"My son, he'll be 8. He took his first steps to her. He's hurt," Kenyatta Lee, who’s son was Morrow’s godson, told WHIO-TV’s Lauren Clark.

"Does it bring you any peace to know that someone is already in jail because of this? No, because that's not going to cover the hurt for my son. And it's not going to bring her back," continued Lee.

At the vigil, friends and family left candles at the doorstep of the apartment where Morrow was killed.

Lee said the loss is not the first, but for now she is focused on remembering the good in Morrow's life.

"Jeniqua was a happy person... always smiling. Goofy. I mean, she was a good person. So she really ain't deserve this at all."
